to ship some of the guys together so far the two MCs in the first two books are straight, though not narrow In this series, shifters including wolf, big cat, fox, coyote, and some others are a known social quantity So are wizards, and sensitives who detect magic Society has laws and rules and practices to accommodate the varied abilities, tempers, and needs of th 4.5 I am really getting a kick out of this series of paranormal hockey books despite having to restrain myself from wanting to ship some of the guys together so far the two MCs in the first two books are straight, though not narrow accommodate the varied abilities, tempers, and needs of these paranormal folk The books focus on professional hockey, where the strength, speed, healing, and danger level of shifters has resulted on a ban for paranormals in the NHL, and a parallel league where the refs carry shock sticks, fights can be fatal, and scoring has only recently become as important as violent spectacle.This second book Random Hazard s best friend, brother from another parents, the werewolf When Duncan finds out that Ran is being traded to a club whose coach hates Ran s gut, Duncan steps up, Katniss like, and volunteers to take Ran s place instead.This book is pretty much about Duncan slightly isolated in Devon Monk s Hazard is one of my favorite books last year I was very excited when I received League This book features his adoptive brother Duncan Spark, a wolf shifter In the first book Random got caught in the crossfire between the coach of their hockey team, the Thunderheads, and that of their rivals the Tide Now, under a special rule enacted years ago, the Tide as the bottom ranked team in the league can choose to transfer in any player they want from another team and the coach has chosen Random not because he wants to play him but because he wants to spite Random and the coach of the Thunderheads, he also hates Random so much that he might intentionally try to get him injured or killed on the ice So Dunca...With the last book a little bit of Duncan went a long way I expect much the same from this book, but that didn t happen I think a big part of that was because for most of the book Duncan was isolated from his family and his team due to a choice he made to save Random I think it was the right choice, even with how things played out in the end Duncan managed to find out a lot about himself, making himself stronger and knowing his limits It was also a good choice in the big picture of things a With the last book a little bit of Duncan went a long way I expect much the same from this book, but that didn t happen I think a big part of that was because for most of the book Duncan was isolated from his family and his team due to a choice he made to save Random I think it was the right choice, even with how things played out in the end Duncan managed to find out a lot about himself, making himself stronger and knowing his limits It was also a good choice in the big picture of things as a bad man got put out of the way, allowing another team the chance to thrive I do like how this one ended, liked that Duncan was back home where he belonged and how he realized what he learned to do while he was away he had already been doing that, he just didn t know.On a side note, I have to say that I LOVE, LOVE, Duncan s parents I love how they both baby and not Duncan and how they treat Random just as they do Duncan These two adults are why Duncan and Random...ExcellentI enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one knocked that one right out of the park for me even if that s the wrong sport metaphor for this book.I loved Spark s journey of discovering that he was an alpha, especially how everyone knew it long before he did It was awesome to see him come into his own, and in so doing, build a solid foundation for the Tide to come together as a team and a pack.The one thing that I have to wonder about is, if the Tide s owner had been around ExcellentI enjoyed the first book in this series, but this one knocked that one right out of the park for me even if that s the wrong sport metaphor for this book.I loved Spark s journey of allowed to play in the NHL, so they play in paranormal only league The first two books are about two brothers, a wizard and a werewolf, who are getting their start in the league.Guys I genuinely love
