liked parts of it and hated others I found the story about the naive young girl and the backstreet abortionist to be drawn out, predictable and dripping in sentimentality, but I was fascinated by other threads, expecially the medical treatments of the 1920s Many of the characters were undeveloped or wishy washy Agnes, the main protagonist I much preferred the feisty Bess Bradshaw, a bossy District areas of Great Britain These nurses provide not just medical help, but also social and support to residents of the areas that they serve Donna Douglas does a great job describing realistic
