Logue – kino-fada.fr So the English Civil War isn t a period I ve read about before but the cavalry have always fascinated me since I was young so when offered the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review I jumped at the chance.Now I ve read a lot of books that contain war scenes and this book did something different to most. the author decided to focus on the characters rather than the fight so the action moves quickly and you don t get bogged down trying to imagine the field of battle It makes f So the English Civil War isn t a period I ve read about before but the cavalry have always fascinated me since I was young so when offered the chance to read this book in exchange for an honest review I jumped at the chance.Now I ve read a lot of books that contain war scenes and this book did something different to most. the author decided to focus on the characters rather than the fight so the action moves quickly and you don t get bogged down trying to imagine the field of battle It makes for a smooth following story, rich in detail but just enough to give the story it s realism. The best detail in the book is left for the characters in my view.The two main characters are Hollie and Luce I won t lie at first I just didn t ...The English Civil War has always fascinated me and I is funny, sad, insightful and entertaining often all on the same page It s clear that the author knows her history, there s a frightening amount of research gone into this book, but it s very well disguised There isn t a boring page in it, it s very well written and I honestly can t wait to get on to book two M J Logue is my This book made me so happy The first in a series, it introduces a cast The Smoke of Her Burning I did get hold of the first 3 books and am very pleased I did Red Horse starts with some background to Hollie Babbit and his start as a mercenary in the 30 Years War, then links into his involvement in The English Civil war on the side of Parliament It seems he joined the Parliamentary Army for wages but is soon fighting on their side fo As mentioned in my review of The Smoke of Her Burning , I came into this series at book 4, whereas this is book 1.So, having read The Smoke of Her Burning I did get hold of the first 3 books and am very pleased I did Red Horse starts with some background to Hollie Babbit and his start as a mercenary in the 30 Years War, then links into his involvement in The English Civil war on the side of Parliament It seems he joined the Parliamentary Army for wages but is soon fighting on their side for revenge.Being the first book in the series you get to meet many of Captain Babbit s troop of reject cavalrymen and what a bunch they are from a very prissy and upright Luce to Sgt Cullis who looks like ...To say that this was a serendipitous find is an understatement The author somehow accidentally found my humble, yet edifying review blog and liked what she saw, contacted me and the rest is history To say that I enjoyed the heck out of this book is also an understatement The characters are wonderfully crafted including a couple of the horses the story is grippingthe settings are such that you feel like you are there but the best part is watching the relationship between Captain Hollie To say that this was a
