and was looking forward to this one Once it picked up, I had found myself caught in a web of mystery, betrayal, and a coup against a kingdom, but it took way too long to get there I felt like this one could have been better The world and characters were familiar, but neededdepth and development The plot twists in the second half of the book Lady of Magick started off really slow for me I felt like series and finding the second a crashing bore While I don t mind meandering plots and slow development, I DO object to the story not even starting until halfway through the book, dragging for another quarter, and then resolving all at once in the final stretch Even that, I suppose, I could accept were there interesting character development, but Sophie and Gray did not develop at all Sophie, in fact, seemed to regress , and Joanna see Nothingdisappointing than loving the first book in a series and finding the second ...Two years after the events of THE MIDNIGHT QUEEN, Sophie and Gray
