themselves caring for what is happening in the author s world Certainly there are some really impressive observations about government and terror here and it is interesting to read a dystopian novel set in Egypt but all of his observations and ideas come off asimportant that A book that sounds so muchinteresting than it becomes.Despite moments of brilliance, nothing in this novel quite takes them Structurally, there aren t any characters that matter The ending is bizarre, and threadbare as though something far grander was hoped for, but in the interests of concision there was no means of taking it to the degree that was necessaryUltimately, this is a novel with some great ideas and poor execution Perhaps it was an experiment for the author I m not sure But I m also not sure if I will fast The beginning was so good and intriguing that I forced myself to keep on reading when it started getting dull thinking that it will get better But NOPE it just gotboring by the pa...This is my least favourite Kadare novel in the group of five or six that I have read As the others are mostly simply amazing, that doesn t make this book a bad read at all The language in it is beautiful, but I could have done without some of thevulgar parts of it, as they were not pertinent to the story but just mentioned from time to time Doesn t seem very Kadaresque to me But I suppose it s a matter of
