slasher horror butcreepy horror Like those toys in Toy Story that are made from amalgamations of other doll parts and look all crazy You aren t sure exactly why Everyone once in a while I try to spoiler autoerotic asphyxiation, children having sex, and mutilation hide spoiler I didn t quite enjoy any of the stories, but I appreciated each of them on a level The author managed to do complete world building in only 20 pages or so, something other authors fail to do in 300 pages The writing was meticulous and eerily ...Perfect title Other than that, the fact that Anna loved it probably there because I think it says it all, but instead I m going to explain because Shanna Germain deserves the highest level of praise Her work is always astounding, forever touching, and incredibly deep I have yet to read a piece that I do not finish with a tremendous gasp or sigh and an utterance of, Goddammit, Shanna, you re brilliant Even removing the sex from her tales you ll find eloquent...I flew through this collection in an hour or two of reading My recommendation is to NOT do that but to savor these stories and pause to think about them I found that I was reading wanting to devour each one as I went with a hunger that surprised me I feel like I got a couple of strange looks from people around me as I was so intent on my reading that I ignored the other people in the room.I can t comment on individual stories without giving away spoilers so I will say that the mix of themes i I flew through this collection in an hour or two of reading My recommendation is to NOT do that but to savor these stories and pause to think about them I found that I was reading wanting to devour each one as I went with a hunger that surprised me I feel like I got a couple of strange looks from people around me as I was so intent on my reading th...FULL REVIEW no stranger to the dark fantasy genre, I am afraid to say that I struggled with many of the stories collected herein I often felt as though I had walked in halfway through the plot Many of the stories work in the fact that they left me feeling appalled, disturbed and uncomfortable in equal measures as I am sure the author fully
