complex build up A third of the way through, it hit me none of that actually matters to the novel The entire final battle is almost an afterthought, compared to the main themes of hop...I have never planned as a trilogy until I finished the second The first worked fine as a standalone the second was a parallel story time wise, but structured and narrated in a pleasingly different way, shedding new light on the first And this one I can t see the point of it, and I wonder when she decided on a trilogy It s not that it s badly written or boring, but it doesn t add anything pertinent just a bit of backstory and a smattering of predictable follow up This novel continues the trilogy s recurring theme of unintended consequences of good intentions gone wrong Maybe that applies to the book itself
